Zechariah 11: The Shepherd Israel Rejected
God tells Zechariah:
“Act out My broken heart.
Be the Good Shepherd they don’t want.”
He takes two staffs: Favor and Union.
Then, for thirty pieces of silver—the price of a slave—he lets the people fire him.
He breaks both staffs.
Favor shattered. Unity gone.
The nation chooses worthless shepherds instead.
Centuries later, Judas counts out the exact same coins.
The true Shepherd is betrayed, struck, abandoned.
Yet the broken staff becomes a cross.
The rejected Shepherd becomes the doorway for scattered sheep to come home.
This Sunday: Meet the Shepherd worth far more than thirty pieces who was sold so you could be bought back forever.
