The Way of Love: Greatest of All

We live in a world where everybody talks about love. We say we love our families, our friends, our church, and certainly we say we love God. But 1 Corinthians 13 forces us to ask a harder question: What does love actually look like when it has to be lived out?

Paul writes to a church filled with spiritual gifts, yet struggling with division, pride, selfishness, and competition. So right in the middle of teaching them about their gifts, Paul shows them “a more excellent way.”

Because you can be gifted and still not be loving. You can know a lot and still not be loving. You can sacrifice greatly and still not be loving.

So today, Paul isn't simply going to tell us that love matters. He's going to show us why love matters, what love looks like, why love lasts—and why, in the end, the greatest of these is love.
