One Body, Many Members

The first-century Roman world ran on a ruthless hierarchy of honor and shame, where social rank was everything and the weak were routinely pushed aside. When the church in Corinth imported this competitive mindset into their spiritual life, the Apostle Paul wrote 1 Corinthians 12:12–31 to dismantle it. Following the movement of the passage, this sermon explores how the Holy Spirit unites us into one Body, destroys both the lie of personal insignificance and the sin of spiritual elitism, and equips diverse gifts to build up the entire household of faith in love.
