Lesson 1 - The Promised Kingdom
This study explores the transition of God’s kingdom from a physical, earthly legacy to an everlasting spiritual reality, focusing on the historical accounts found in 1 Chronicles. It begins by tracing the detailed line of Judah through its moral failures and broken history, demonstrating how God patiently preserved this specific lineage to bring about King David. The narrative then shifts to David’s well-intended desire to construct a permanent house of cedar for the ark of the covenant—a noble human plan that God restricted, reminding His people that divine authorization must always supersede human innovation. Ultimately, the study highlights the profound beauty of the Davidic Covenant, where God subverts David’s offer by promising to build him a permanent house: an enduring royal dynasty. While this covenant found an immediate, partial fulfillment in King Solomon and the earthly kings of Judah, its complete, eternal fulfillment is realized exclusively in Jesus Christ, the true Son of David, whose kingship and kingdom will never end.
