The Elder Brother
🌟 HARD SAYINGS OF JESUS - Summer Series 2025 🌟
"The Elder Brother"Â - Luke 15:25-28
Sometimes the hardest words from Jesus aren't spoken directly—they're revealed through His parables. The elder brother's anger at his father's celebration exposes a heart we might recognize in ourselves.
He becomes "angry" and refuses to join the celebration, revealing himself to be "a dutiful, self-righteous slave" rather than a loving son. The elder brother represents the self-righteous who resent God's grace toward others.
His bitter response reveals the danger of serving God out of duty rather than love, of keeping score instead of celebrating grace.
The hard truth? Both brothers should "come to themselves," end their self-estrangement, and be restored to full community.
Are you celebrating God's grace or keeping score? ðŸ’
