Remaining Single: Undivided Devotion (1 Corinthians 7:25-35)

Jun 7, 2026    Mitch Davis

In a society that often treats marriage as the ultimate measure of completeness, we need to hear the refreshing, shepherd-like care of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 7:25-35. Walking through a season of "present distress," Paul doesn't diminish marriage, but he shines a beautiful light on the unique dignity of the single life (v. 26). This message is a warm invitation to look past the temporary things of this world and see that singleness is not a holding pattern or a spiritual second-best—it is a strategic gift. By sparing the believer from the natural, everyday anxieties that come with caring for a family, singleness provides a sacred, distraction-free space to focus entirely on pleasing the Lord (v. 32-34). Ultimately, our goal isn't to set up rules or restrictions, but to encourage and equip every single believer to run hard after Christ with an undivided heart (v. 35).
