Elsie JANE Overton Buselmeier has passed into the everlasting arms of her Savior. Residing in Triune, Tennessee, she died at home on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 67.
She was born on November 3, 1958, in Nashville, Tennessee. She grew up mostly on Franklin Road in the Oak Hill section of southern Nashville/Davidson County. She graduated from John Overton High School in Nashville and then went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee/Knoxville in 1980 with a BS in Business/Marketing. While at UT, she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority.
Jane was a baptized believer and life-long member of the Church of Christ. As a believer, she did not falter in her faith that God was in control, that His will was best, and that whatever came, He was watching over her.
One of the defining aspects of her life was her struggle with auto-immune liver disease. She was diagnosed at about age 19 and fought to stay healthy throughout the rest of her life. On July 5, 2000, at age 41, Jane received the gift of life, a liver transplant made possible by a young man whose family donated his liver to Jane. Twenty-six years later, her struggle culminated with the onset of several critical health problems. But look what, by the grace of God, her struggle achieved. Through it all, she never lost faith in her Savior Jesus. She did not fear the many, many medical procedures and surgeries that she endured because she knew there was an eternal home in Heaven waiting for her.
She took great joy in being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and homemaker. She took to heart the description of the excellent wife of Proverbs 31, she was known and respected as trustworthy, hardworking, and compassionate, caring devotedly for her family and community. Her strength and wisdom brought joy and respect to her husband and family. And she loved teaching children’s Bible classes.
A woman of many talents, Jane used her marketing skills to help her family by selling Tupperware, Pampered Chef, and Christmas Around-the-World, and in her last years, as a real estate agent. She loved helping people, especially young people, obtain a home. When her boys were young, she utilized her many creative skills by being a seamstress and selling the children’s clothing that she made and by teaching others to sew. When the boys were school age, she became the Arts and Crafts coordinator for the Williamson County Recreation Center, teaching and arranging classes in sewing, pottery, painting and other crafts. But she always made it a point to be home when her sons got off the bus from school. She stayed involved her boys’ education by being a carpool driver, room mother and by being the President and Vice President of the Trinity Elementary PTA. She made lifelong friends with some of the other mothers at Trintiy, forming a group they called the Sunshine Girls. They’re still friends today. When the boys went off to college, she worked for several years at the Cool Springs Mall Customer Services desk, enjoying meeting and helping the many people who came by the desk. Before COVID, she volunteered at Williamson County Medical Center for several years, amassing over four hundred hours of volunteer work. Before her health deteriorated, Jane and her husband loved to travel. They took ocean and river cruises, seeing and enjoying many different parts of the world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elsie Raye Robinson Overton and Dr. Bill Overton, DDS. Through her parents, she had strong family connections to Gladeville, Wilson County, Tennessee, and Gainsboro, Jackson County, Tennessee. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Steve Stinson.
Jane is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ted Buselmeier, sons, Ben Buselmeier and Billy (Amy) Buselmeier, her grandchildren, Evelyn Buselmeier, Everett Buselmeier and Emmett Buselmeier. She is also survived by her three sisters, Sherry Stinson, Ann (John) Dickinson, and Carol (Joe) Bomar, her mother-in-law, Maralyn (Lee) Spain, her brother-in-law, Dan (Donna) Buselmeier, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In Jane’s five weeks in hospice care, she was lovingly cared for by her Ladies-in-Waiting who were her sister, her sisters in Christ, and dear friends both old and new. Her family is exceedingly grateful for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in her final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Franklin Church of Christ, 324 Franklin Rd, Franklin, TN 37069 on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 2 PM. Visitation with the family will held at the Franklin Church of Christ on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM and on Saturday, September 12, 2026, 12 noon to 1:50 PM.
