Final Instructions to the Romans

As we near the end of our year-long journey through Romans, Paul’s final instructions hit home: 

“Watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way contrary to the sound doctrine you’ve received—avoid them. Be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” (Rom 16:17-20 paraphrase) 

After unfolding the glorious gospel—no one is righteous on their own, but God justifies the ungodly by grace through faith in Christ, for Jews and Gentiles alike—Paul ends exactly where the letter began: guarding the gospel that saves. 

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the power that keeps us united, pure, and victorious. Hold fast to the truth, love one another fiercely, and walk in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ!
