Exhorting One Another

Dec 10, 2025    Mitch Davis

“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together… but encouraging (exhorting) one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

— Hebrews 10:24–25

One of the most beautiful, practical commands of life together in Christ is this: we are called to exhort each other — daily, personally, courageously.

Exhortation isn’t just casual encouragement or empty “you got this!” texts.

It’s coming alongside a brother or sister and saying,

“Hey, I see where you’re drifting… let’s get back on course together.”

It’s speaking the truth in love when someone is stuck in sin, fear, or discouragement.

It’s reminding each other of who God is and what He has promised — even when feelings scream the opposite.

🔥 Biblical exhortation is:

- **Timely** – “as long as it is called ‘today’” (Heb 3:13)

- **Truth-filled** – rooted in Scripture, not opinion

- **Love-motivated** – aimed at their joy and God’s glory

- **Mutual** – we all give it and we all need to receive it

Paul begged the Romans: “I appeal to you (Greek: *parakalō* – exhort!)… present your bodies as a living sacrifice” (Rom 12:1).

He told Timothy to “exhort with complete patience and teaching” (2 Tim 4:2).

And in Thessalonians he says we are to “encourage (exhort) one another and build one another up” (1 Thess 5:11).

So here’s the question for all of us this week:

👉 Who in your life needs a courageous, Scripture-soaked, love-filled word of exhortation right now?

👉 And who has God placed in your life that you need to humbly receive exhortation from?

Let’s not leave this vital ministry on the shelf.

The Day is drawing near.

We need each other — speaking, listening, stirring, sharpening, lifting.

💬 Drop a 🔥 below if you’re committing this week to lovingly exhort at least one person in your community… and to stay humble enough to be exhorted yourself.
